Members of the public got a “taste” of the new Test Kitchen Incubator at an open house on Tuesday, hosted by the Innovation Centre for Entrepreneurs (ICE) and Elgin Business Resource Centre (EBRC). It was the official launch of the facility on South Edgeware Rd which will provide opportunities for the area’s burgeoning agriculture and specialty foods market.
Those on hand gathered first for the official launch and presentation, but were then invited to check out the “real open house”, the kitchen where Chef James and Mary Meadows were preparing some of the tasty samples offered to visitors and where an impressive space is equipped with with top end equipment like a Blodgett BLCP-61 Combi free standing oven, Robo coupe food processer and a 36” commercial all gas range by Sunfire.
“Given the long agricultural tradition of our region, this test kitchen offers our business minded ‘foodies’ the real and tangible ability to produce and market their ideas,” says Kevin Jackson, GM of both ICE and the EBRC.
