Brayden Vaughan was the first youth 10-pin bowler from St. Thomas to win a Provincial title. He won his division over forty competitors at the Ivan Nelson Memorial Tournament. The win secured his place on the National team where he won Gold in Winnipeg. Brayden also won Bronze at the YBC Provincial 4-Steps Tournament. Rachael Marie Muma is a recipient of the Western University Athletic Award, Ontario University Athletics and Canadian Interuniversity Sport Indoor Track and Field Champion. Among her many sport and leadership achievements Rachael was awarded the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Award two years in a row for maintaining an academic average of 80% while competing at a National Level!

St. Thomas Minor Rookie Cardinals Baseball Team (Head Coach Damian Whitchurch) are St. Thomas Minor Baseball’s youngest competitive team consisting of players born in 2007/08. Starting the season with only 10 players, this short-handed team held a 20-2 record and won their first League Pennant. 2015 Ontario Baseball Association “AA” Champions!

Carol Clarke has given an amazing number of volunteer hours, dedicating 20 years to Wildlife Rehabilitation in St. Thomas. Carol is licensed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and trains volunteers to foster animals as well as train other volunteers to become licensed rehabbers. Carol is the founder and driving force behind Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation which took in 266 animals in 2015 alone!

Phil Shelley has contributed ten years of volunteer service with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He has represented St. Thomas as a zone leader for door to door awareness and fundraising campaigns. For the past seven years Phil has planned the Soups On Tasting Challenge teaching the public about sodium reduction, nutrition and heart health. His volunteer spirit is truly remarkable!

Golden K Kiwanis is a group of sixty plus dedicated volunteers who have been ambassadors for VON Meals on Wheels and Transportation programs in Elgin for over 10 years. The Golden K Kiwanis generously give their time and assist in helping VON clients live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Truly a deserving bunch of humble individuals!

Debbi Haskins has become an advocate for RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) within her community, raising awareness for this little known, rare debilitating disease. Debbi has lived with RSD since 2008 and travels to local schools and festivals and reads her books to spread awareness. Debbi was part of a City Proclamation declaring November 3rd, 2015 RSD Awareness Day.

Principal organist and choir director for forty years, he has performed at countless community events, and acted as fundraiser chair, entertainer and producer. Sarah has the gift of teaching others how to effectively price match, coupon, rebate and save money on everyday items as she believes no one should have to choose between one necessity over another. Sarah spends countless hours helping those in need through her facebook page, tuck shop and educational workshops. Sarah has donated cleaning supplies, grocery items and so much more to various schools, families and organizations.

Bob Harris and Jim Pay are being honoured with the Mayor’s Award for their years of dedication and volunteer service to their community. They introduced their love of Disc Golf to the City years ago and since have worked tirelessly to elevate the sport through tournaments, course additions, improvements and education. Bob and Jim were involved in creating two separate Disc Golf courses in St. Thomas and can be seen all season long preparing them for play by locals and visitors alike. Bob and Jim run an annual Jr. Tournament and mentor various school aged kids during gym classes, providing free recreational opportunities. Jim and Bob work closely with players young and old and are committed to enriching the lives of all disc golfers through their efforts and encouraging styles.
