The 4th Annual Railway City Arts Crawl took place Feb 24 & 25 at fifteen St. Thomas venues and featured more artists than ever. The popular winter celebration of local arts and culture invites people to explore venues throughout St. Thomas and meet talented local artists engaging in the creative process. The 34th Annual St. Thomas Fire Muster Days kicked off Saturday with the popular parade of emergency vehicles down Talbot Street lined with kids excited to see the spectacle and hear the sirens. They converged on Pinafore Park, where two days of entertainment hosted by the St. Thomas Professional Firefighter’s Association included muster competitions, antique fire trucks and apparatus, emergency displays and demonstrations, music, food, car show and interactive children’s activities.

It seemed that much of the village of Sparta (plus quite a few others from outside Sparta) were committed to making that happen in a fun-filled and informative way on Saturday at the Sparta Church Museum's High Tea & Historic Fashion Show, an important fundraiser for the museum.

The 2016 World Tubing Championships had it all – a great tubing competition, plenty of family activities, community spirit and successful fundraising in support of the Special Care Nursery at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. The event received rave reviews from competitors, participants and spectators for all of the happenings from the Friday opening ceremonies to the finals and awards on Saturday afternoon

Treble Makers "A Concert to End War" Video

The Treble Makers Women's Choir continued their annual tradition of a holiday concert on Saturday. This year they presented "A Concert to End War" at Calvary United Church in Rodney. The concert theme was inspired by the anniversary of the end of World War II 70 years ago. It began with WWI and continued right through to a recent song by Canadian composer, Sarah Quartel. From the programme, "We celebrate the end of WWII and confirm our intent to do what we can to bring right human relations to the world."
