Southwold Remembers 2014 took place at the Keystone Complex in Shedden on Sunday November 9th. Displays and commemorations focused on veterans from the local area. Keynote speaker, the Honourable Steve Peters, highlighted some of the events which took place in Elgin County throughout the war of 1812 and during the final raids of 1814.
The Silver Cross Family 2014 wreath  was laid for Private Kenneth Arthur Lumley of Iona Station. He attended high school in St. Thomas, then worked for P.M. Railway. He enlisted in London on August 8, 1942 and served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, Royal Canadian Intelligence Corps. He was sent overseas in October 1944 and after seeing continuous action was killed at the Western Front on February 26, 1945 at the age of 29. (From Southwold Remembers 2014 Program)
