The Elgin County Museum's Vimy Lecture is held annually on the anniversary of the first day of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, April 9th. This year, the museum welcomed Rev. Canon Major Frederick Scott and a WWI nursing sister.
Rev. Canon Major Frederick Scott (re-enacted by Nick Wells) became the padre of the 1st Canadian Corps in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was tireless in ministering to the Corps both in and out of the trenches. He was joined on Thursday by a WWI nursing sister (re-enacted by Tracy Gordon).

It was on the first day of the battle that Wallacetown native Ellis Sifton single-handedly eliminated a German machine gun emplacement at the cost of his own life. He was posthumously awarded a Victoria Cross, one of four presented to Canadians that day. His VC and information about him are also on display during the lecture.
