St. Thomas Tom Zombie Festival organizers are happy to announce a successful festival (Saturday August 31st), reporting attendance of four hundred over the day. Entertainers, vendors and zombies gathered for an afternoon of fun at the Elgin County Railway Museum grounds.
Initially conceived by Bryan Bakker in April of this year, the festival was faced with a variety of challenges - there was a tight timeline for planning and initial opposition from two local church leaders. They were happy, however, with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown for the event. They note that the success “has proven that this genre is hot, and not just in big cities, but right here in St. Thomas, Ontario.”
John Allen, a local actor and fan of the genre came on as Creative Director. Say organizers, Allen pulled together “an entertainment package that kept visitors of all ages engaged,” while “Bakker focused on organizing promotional strategies.” They are already getting things in motion to plan for Tom Zombie Festival 2014.
