(St. Thomas, Ontario) – On Wednesday, May 20, Fanshawe College celebrated the grand opening of its newly-integrated Career and Employment Services (CES). Acknowledging the contributions of government and community partners, Fanshawe's St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus exhibited the new home of its combined employment and academic upgrading programs, which officially began operating out of Elgin Mall in March. |
At this new location, the College will bring together its existing Employment Ontario services and Literacy and Basic Skills programming to better serve clients who are looking for work, training or literacy instruction.
"The College's vision for this location was to set up a leading-edge training and skills preparation centre to help unlock the potential of job seekers throughout Elgin County," said Fanshawe Board of Governors representative Bruce Babcock. "Our clients now have access to the very best professional development opportunities and resources, and local employers have access to a growing pool of ambitious, talented and job-ready people."
With renovations at the mall now complete, local job seekers and employers will have the choice of two Employment Ontario service centres to meet their needs: the Fanshawe Career and Employment Services office in Elgin Mall and the Elgin-St. Thomas Youth Employment Counselling Centre (YECC) at 400 Talbot Street. Fanshawe also offers similar services at 25 Centre Street in Aylmer.
