The 12th Annual Miniature Show at Portside Gallery proved once again just how appealing a 4”x4” piece of art can be. Their Sunday afternoon opening attracted a steady crowd of visitors who leaned in close to study the details of the work.
The thirty-nine contributing artists were challenged to confine their creativity to a tiny space (16 square inches for 2-D images and 45 cubic inches for 3-D work) but that didn’t prevent them from coming up with interesting work in a wide range of themes and styles.
Many of the participating artists were on hand, including Susan Shurish and S'ine Maule, with a trio of Susan's miniatures (left) and Gabrielle Nowicki with two of her pieces (right).
Gabrielle's piece "Pieface" was acknowledged by judge Kim Harris with an honourable mention ribbon and comment, "So still, the apprehensive expression is endearing. Articulated and imaginative." Find out more about Gabrielle at www.gabriellenowicki.com/. |
Work on display consists of mainly miniatures plus a smattering of larger works by gallery members. The miniature show continues till Feb 27th at Portside Gallery, 187 ½ A Main Street, Port Stanley. Contact 519-782-7066 or visit portside.cuttingpromotions.com.
