"From Fraser Lake to Potrero Beach" is Brian Saby's third solo exhibition at the St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre. In 1998 "Without Consent" dealt with violence on many levels and in 2006 his large works dealt primarily with human emotions and disorders. The present exhibit deals more with personal friendship, love and joy.
“Pure sensation is one reaction to Brian Saby’s recent paintings. The artist takes us to the beach and treats us to shimmering veils of sun-infused atmosphere. We experience the haze effect viscerally, at least partly because of the occasional reflections of small scattered patches of brilliant colour that may suggest human activity.”
Madeline Lennon, "Brian Saby: Paintings of Heat"
“From Fraser Lake to Potrero Beach” runs October 5 to 19, 2013. Stop in and check out Saby's shimmering, large-scale works – they are likely to leave you in an up-lifted mood.
