
Several organizations across Elgin County took part in Culture Days, an annual Canada-wide three-day celebration of artists and cultural groups. Visitors were invited to participate in free interactive activities.
Algoma University students along with artists of the Canvas & Quill Studios and visitors created an interactive group mural reflecting the history of the school and the area.
Many members of the Elgin Arts Trail took part with “Artastic Elgin” days on Saturday & Sunday. Fourteen participants along the trail offered interactive events, speakers and workshops. See activities at just some of them in the photos below.

At Concreations, Andy DeVries demonstrated how he casts concrete and uses stains and varnishes to create delightful garden ornaments with an antique, weathered look.
At Pinecroft, potters Brenda Smith & Tony Clennell were busy at the wheel. And in the new “Centre for the Arts” studio which Pinecroft has built for clay workshops, Mary Philpott of Verdant Tile Stratford led participants in exploring various tile making techniques.
On Sunday, Joan Janes owner of the Little Red Mitten was on hand to demonstrate some wool arts tips and techniques, including an old Scandinavian knitting technique, spinning, and a quick and easy way to make pom poms.
