Architectural Preservation Recognized at Third Annual ACO Awards

The Architectural Conservancy Ontario, St. Thomas-Elgin Branch presented their 2015 ACO Awards on May 6th. The award recipients exemplify good practices of architectural preservation from across Elgin County and within the City of St. Thomas.
Recipients recognized include:
Commercial:
Engineers’ Building, 561-567 Talbot St, St. Thomas, Robert Harris (opened 1909)
Dave & Mary Thiessen, Family Central Restaurant, 62 Talbot St E, Aylmer (1883)

Public:
Elgin County Court House, Wellington St, St. Thomas (original building 1854)
Municipality of West Elgin, Streetscape Master Plan for Rodney & West Lorne

Residential:
David Goodwin, 64 Gladstone Ave, St. Thomas (1884)
Linda Masson, 10 Centre St, St. Thomas (1834

Advocacy and Education:
Sally Martyn, Sparta. Sally has been a long-term supporter of saving historically important architecture in Central Elgin so that future generations can appreciate the past of their community.
