This year's Elgin Farm Adventure Tour offered a chance to explore five agriculture-related stops on a Saturday self-guided tour through Central and West Elgin.
Though rain showers popped up a few times, the day was mostly fair for visitors to locations which included Empire Valley Farms, Great Lake Farms, Farm Camp at Pearce Williams Christian Centre, Kettle Creek Friesians and the Elgin County Plowing Match. Check out photos below from two stops - the Plowing Match and the Kettle Creek Friesians.

The highlight of the match is the plowing competitions in a number of classes, including newer tractors, antique tractors, horses and youth. Officials from Elgin County showed their support by taking a turn at the tractor wheel.
Kettle Creek Friesians
Jack and Margaret Vanderkooy encountered the Friesian horse for the first time while on a trip to the Netherlands - along with Jack's daughter Rachel their passion for the Friesian has grown over the years, as has the herd. The horses are housed and trained in a 14-stall stable and riding arena built in 2012.
