The St. Thomas Garden Tour showcased talented green thumbs and a bevy of beautiful gardens on Sunday July 8th. The weather was perfect for the annual tour organized by the St. Thomas & District Horticultural Society. Most of the nine gardens featured backyard retreat areas, in a diversity of sizes and styles.

The Girvan/Bigelow gardens have a pond and water feature as the focal point (photos 1 & 2). The Burgess large historic city property boasts extensive perennial gardens and some unique trees (photos 3 & 4). The Tobin garden is a relaxing oasis featuring a large pond framed by perennials, trees and seating areas (photos 5 & 6). The Lazzani's well managed smaller garden features raised beds, an innovative watering system and use of recycled materials (photos 7 & 8). The Pinnel garden wraps from front around to delightful perennial plantings and trees (photo 9). The Catt's sizable historic home has beautifully rejuvenated gardens (photo 10). The wonderful garden at the McTavish property makes great use of planting areas (photos 11 & 12). A garden oasis can be found in the Butterwick back yard which features unique plantings and sublime water features (photos 13 & 14). 550 registered daylilies, with a large collection of companion plants are displayed in a tranquil garden setting in the Fish Daylily Ensemble Gardens (photos 15, 16, 17).
