"Snow White & The 7 Dwarfs" a Delightful Pre-Christmas Outing at the Princess Ave Playhouse

Congratulations to the Elgin Theatre Guild on their presentation of Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, a pantomime by James Barry, produced by Lesley Chapman and Ken Roberts. Once again the annual pre-Christmas "panto" presentation attracted large audiences, enthralled children (actors and theatre-goers alike), and kept everyone in stitches for much of the show. The sold-out performances ran from December 4th to 15th, with a huge cast of main characters, dwarfs, woodland creatures, guards and chorus.

Several of the actors have appeared in all of the pantomimes and continue to develop their knack of inviting interaction without letting the show’s momentum slide. The principles included Judy Cormier (Fairy Flora), John Allen (Clarissa the Cook), Ken Roberts (Muddles, Clarissa’s silly son), Erin Axford (Snow White), Ashley Grech (Prince Valient), Gary Bodkin (Queen Evilyn), Samantha Daniel (Mirriam the Magic Mirror) and Ruth Pickersgill (The Old Hag).

As in the previous pantos at the Princess Ave Playhouse, the stage was simple but interesting and worked well to convey the scene changes. Though she appeared only as the face in the mirror in brief bits throughout most of the play, Marriam (Samantha Daniel) was a delight as a Mirror with a big voice and a whole lot of attitude.
