Deni Gauthier
An appreciative audience packed the St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre Saturday (March 24) for an evening of music with Deni Gauthier.
Deni’s performance was set against a multi-layered backdrop consisting of the Great Beginnings art show; Jon Jeffery’s opening act; his new cd “i (am) hope” and the Deni Gauthier Band. All of these elements came together to create a truly memorable show.

Jon Jeffery & Cara Lee
Early in his performance, Deni made note of the lively elementary school students art show currently filling the gallery walls, his life-long love for art and his conviction of its importance in the lives of children. (In fact, this show and past ones he has had at the gallery have been fundraisers for children’s programming there). Deni's caring outlook extends to the needs of people globally, and especially children, and he took the opportunity to introduce his new association and support for christian blind mission.
Singer-songwriter Jon Jeffrey opened, and was joined by wife and fellow-singer Cara Lee. They were a perfect warm-up act with their pleasingly warm vocals and a knack for sharing a feeling of happiness that is contagious.

Deni plays a lot of gigs, uses social media effectively to share his latest songs, and can be found entertaining at many local events, sometimes as a solo performer. This show provided a chance to hear him perform live with his band – it was an opportunity not to be missed. The musicians helped to showcase his sizable singing and song-writing talents. Together on Saturday evening, Deni and band presented an impressively polished show.
Saturday night was also the launch for Deni’s cd, “i (am) hope” - it was the focus of the evening’s performance and they played it straight through from “Do It for Love” to “This Too Shall Pass”. It’s a well put together album, a showcase for Deni’s heartfelt lyrics and voice, and a great backbone for an evening of music.
