West End Talbot Street was the place to be this past weekend for a fun and energizing shot of culture. St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre took part in Doors Open St. Thomas with tours of the gallery and the vault, hosted the West End Arts Mingle, and launched The Parade of Elephants in conjunction with the Elgin Arts Trail.
Professional and amateur artists from our community as well as members of the St. Thomas Photographic Guild set up easels and aimed cameras on the street between Elgin and Pearl, to share their impressions and interpretations of the west end streetscape. Visitors mingled, interacted and joined in to enjoy the art, music and cultural vibe.
Elephants whimsical and wild were to be found on the street and in the gallery, helping to kick off the Parade of Elephants. The parade will grow in coming months as it appears at various locations of the Elgin Arts Trail. Find out more at http://www.elginartstrail.ca/.
