It was an art-full weekend in Elgin County with “For Art’s Sake”, an Artists & Artisan Showcase at the Art Emporium in Port Stanley and the Elgin Fall Colours Studio Tour.
Open just since this past spring, the Art Emporium is operated by a group of five artists whose goal is to provide a venue to show their own work, and also that of many other regional artists and artisans. With ample floor and wall space, the bright gallery is well set-up to show off an abundance of work.

“For Art’s Sake” featured over 90 artists in an impressive smorgasbord of sculptures, photograpy, wood carving and turning, jewellery and glass work. The opening Friday featured the art-show friendly music of jazz guitarist David Jolly.
On Friday and Saturday, the Art Emporium was also a stop for five of the artists (Robin Baratta, Sandra England, Rose Klein, Robert Reid, and June-Anne Reid) on the Elgin Fall Colours Studio Tour. In addition, participating artists on the tour included Sharon and Daniel Brassard of Romantic Designs, Judy Minor, Brenda Smith at Pinecroft, Mary Rose Sanderson in the Jammin Cabin at Pinecroft, Cheryl Garrett-Jenkins of Rubyeyes Kraftwerks and Portside Gallery.
