Chuck Stafford (Chico) performed at the Princess Ave Playhouse in St. Thomas on Saturday evening with his Dealer’s Choice band. It was perhaps a new sound for those who know Chico for his more gritty rock performances with Hogwild.
Chico sounded and looked very comfortable in his acoustic rock hat, singing popular tunes from Benny King (Stand by Me) to The Drifters (This Magic Moment) and Van Morrison (Brown Eyed Girl).
Special guests Sarah and Jeff appeared for the second set, displaying the appealing vocals and high energy stage presence which made them Jack Richardson Fan Favourite Award winners.

Chico was backed by the talents of Dealer’s Choice, Wendel Blue (drums and vocals) and Ronnie Stevens (bass guitar and vocals) plus local Noel Lesperance (keyboards and sax). The total effect was polished, entertaining, and crowd-pleasing. The Wendell Blue / Chico vocal combinations were outstanding. It is likely that many in attendance would be very happy to see more of Chico with Dealer's Choice.
