Port Burwell Marine Museum & Historic Lighthouse (1840)
Mid-May - Labour Day
The museum's abundant collection of historic artifacts, incredible collection of lighthouse lenses including the rotating fresnel lens and period photographs facilitate a look into Port Burwell's past and spur memories of the port's earlier days.
Port Burwell Lighthouse is one of the oldest all wood lighthouses in Canada. It was completed in 1840 and restored in 1988 by Mennonite craftsmen. Perhaps the only Lighthouse that offers visitors a climb to the top for a magnificent panaoramic view.
Visit the Port Burwell Marine Museum's special exhibit "Port Burwell: The Meeting Place of Water, Road and Rail" opening May 18 as part of the Elgin County Museums' Canada 150 Celebration theme, "Transportation".
