Return of the Iron Horse August 18th-21st

8/4/2016

St. Thomas, ON  St. Thomas’ favourite festival is back. The Iron Horse Festival will take place August 18th-21st, on the Elgin County Railway Museum grounds.
There is so much going on at the festival this year for all ages! There will be a midway full of thrilling rides and delicious food vendors serving up all of the carnival classics.

Kids’ Junction will be located in the Railway Museum, the perfect spot for young ones with awesome trains inside and complete with fun activities ranging from games to crafts to shows.

There will also be amazing live performances from talented musicians on both the Community Stage and Main Stage. Main Stage headliners include tribute bands Zed (Led Zeppelin), Bayou Boys (CCR) and Thunderstruck (ACDC), with performances on the Community Stage from local favourites John Milles, Jetfighter, and many more!

Part of what makes the Iron Horse Festival so special is its roots to St. Thomas’s railway heritage. This will be displayed proudly as always, with free train rides running throughout the festival. There will also be access to the Railway Museum, BX Tower, and CASO Station for you to fully submerse yourself in such a critical part of our city’s history.

Returning to the Iron Horse grounds is the Psychic Fair in the CASO Station, with incredible booths performing tea leaf and tarot card readings and other fascinating psychic activities.

Some of the best parts of Iron Horse are the events that occur throughout the weekend, and this year is sure to not disappoint. FreshFest returns on Thursday, August 18th, a celebration of local food with vendors creating delicious appetizers and beverages for you to enjoy. The night will be paired beautifully with live music, art, and the awe-inspiring environment of the Elgin County Railway Museum.

Roots and Brews wraps up the festival on Sunday, August 21st, and there’s no better way to do so. Listen to live Roots music while sampling the refreshing creations of regional craft breweries.

There is something for everyone at this year’s Iron Horse Festival, so come out and be a part of making it the best one yet. Let’s celebrate our railway heritage of the past, and our lovely city of the present, with this wonderful community event!
