ST. THOMAS, ON — Mayor Heather Jackson along with Justin Lawrence, Director of Environmental Services will officially open the Community Recycling Centre on Friday, July 29, 2016.
“Since early 2014 City Council and staff have been working diligently to open a Community Recycling Centre” says Mayor Jackson. “I am pleased to announce that day has arrived. The new facility will accept household waste and recyclable materials as well as e-waste, leaf and yard waste, construction debris and household hazardous waste.”
“This project is a great opportunity to increase the level of service for St. Thomas residents by providing a convenient drop off location for materials that are not managed at the curb.” says Mr. Lawrence. “This facility is another addition to our industry leading waste management program.”
“As much as this new facility offers a convenient place to recycle, we encourage residents to consider the first two R’s; reduce and re-use.”
“Thanks to Michelle Shannon, who has worked on this project for almost 5 years, and Nathan Bokma for managing this project. We also thank HIRA for their high quality construction and excellent customer service.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Recycling Centre, 330 South Edgeware Road.
