STEPAC EXHIBITION: IDENTITY TRANSFER
Sat Jan 14th to Sat Mar 3rd

A St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre Juried Exhibition. It's a rare
artist that hasn't at one time or another attempted a self-portrait.
Sometimes, it's for the most obvious reason, that in portraying
his/herself, they have a ready, willing and free model. At other times
artists may use self-portraits to advertise their skills, practise their
craft, explore some inner turmoil or stake a place in history. Whatever
the reason the artist might think they had for the work, the act of
creation always reveals something about the creator. It's always
possible to learn a little more about the artist by reading between the
brush-strokes or medium.

Artists: Robin
Baratta, Ben Benedict, Betty Burrell, Kit Cutting, Lisa Gerrard, Katrina
Farrow Jones, Michael Hunter, Patricia Johnson, Candy McManiman, Sine
Maule, Ethel Mitrovic, Shelia Nicholas, Cindi Talbot, Albert Sugerman,
Josepha van den Anker, Mary Louise White.

Venue: St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre
Address: 301 Talbot St, St. Thomas
Contact Phone: 519-631-4040
Email: info@stepac.ca
Website: www.stepac.ca

Random Act of Kindness Day

Wed Feb 1st

St. Thomas will recognize the first ever Random Act of Kindness Day on February 1st. It's a day to celebrate those little niceties of life and encourage others to pay those “acts of kindness” forward. In early January, cards will be circulated throughout our community. The cards will encourage the cardholder to perform a simple act of kindness for someone – a neighbour, a friend, a co-worker, or someone they don’t even know – and hand the card over to that person, encouraging him/her to do the same. The event is sponsored by the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce and MyFM. The day will begin with kick-off coffee at The Timken Centre. At Noon, there will be a chili lunch at Memorial Arena.

To get involved, email kindness@myfmradio.ca
